Gadgetry is the art of disguising one thing inside another. To carry out Gadgetry, you must be taking Gadgetry 101 presented by Pestle Griffiths; then, choose a disguise within which you want to conceal another item, and a payload whose effect you want to conceal within the disguise. By spending a minute of appropriate role-playing, you can successfully Gadgeteer, lending the effects of the payload to the disguise.

If the effects of the payload are temporary or one-off, they'll remain temporary or one-off once disguised, with more volatile payloads lasting less time. As a rule of thumb, simple and stable payloads (like a Plant that deals 2 hits of damage when consumed) will last up to an encounter once used, while more volatile payloads (like a Poison that deals FLAME TRIPLE) will only work once before being used up.

Viable disguises include consumables, weapons, and armour.

Example gadgets would include:

A sword that's actually electrified by a Poison, which can deal LIGHTNING DOUBLE up to three times before being exhausted (more if you feed the concealed Poison);

A helmet with concealed brownies, that HEALs you once when hit;

A brownie with a Poison concealed inside, that inflicts Would You Kindly Sleep when eaten.
