Prominent Villagers

From Unusual Haunts

Most prominent villagers are prominent because they lead an Activity. A brief description of those villagers is below:

Evan Jones: Helpful, caring, and obsessed with Poisons; a strong believer in Poison welfare.

Professor Griswold Scott: A somewhat concerning gentleman scientist. Still, there's not a scar on him.

Doctor Gideon Griffiths: The more sensible side of the village's medical care. Many children's early memories include having a skinned knee patched up by Doctor Gideon.

Ignatius Scott: An honest trader who finds Poisons just roaming around with alarming regularity - at least, according to himself. Mostly nocturnal.

Hildegard Scott: A finger in every pie in the village, metaphorically and literally. A prolific baker and even more prolific gossip.

Delia Scott: That's Mrs. Delia, to most. Fancies herself something of an agony aunt.

Patrick Jones: Hale, hearty, and eager to show off. A true believer in percussive maintenance.

Wax Griffiths: Artist extraordinaire, Wax's art nouveau style is complimented by his extensive range of homemade Pigments.

Mayhem Griffiths: Dreamer; wanderer; perennial missing person. Tends to vanish for days on end into odd corners of the village.

Tim and Thomas Jones: Tidy, neat and punctiliously polite. It’s best to hope they’re wearing different clothes today, or you won’t be able to tell them apart - unless you can actually follow their debates on the fog, that is.

Oliver Jones: Dramatic by choice, and often declaiming his (new! Improved!) family tree for all to hear.

Roxander Scott: "Rocky" to just about everybody. A bombastic figure, but with exacting standards for technique.

Mel Griffiths: Cheerfully mercenary, and well-versed in laws nobody can prove she made up.

Robb Scott: Ferociously focused, though the only constant target of that focus is his project to collect enough fog for "the big one".

Coletta Jones: Often draped in shawls, until the Rites start; her art deco style insists on clean geometry.

Gaffer Griffiths: Don't tread on the moss, and he might - grudgingly - tolerate you. Not short-tempered, but consistently curt.

Hug Griffiths: Sleepy, dopey, friendly - they see the world very simply, and never quite seem to be proven wrong.

Cecily Scott: Not a green thumb - a botanist. She will happily explain the difference - at length.

Brush Griffiths: Thoroughly sensible, except when it comes to keeping themselves out of harm's way.

Coppice Griffiths: Perennially harried, but smiling. Often up at dawn to set an example; often asleep in his chair by evening, though.

There are few other prominent villagers, who for their own reasons don't lead activities themselves:

Olympia: The cantankerous caretaker of the Office of Bequests. No, you cannot help them sort through the backlog. No, not even if you see a parcel with your name on it.

Kenneth Jones: Postmaster extraordinaire, as he insists when he's not too puffed out from running back and forth across the village.

The Great-Grand-Scott: Never seen, but their influence is keenly felt - not least by those trying to enter the South Wing of Scott Manor.

Granny Ash Griffiths: Sits, knits, and knows things. Says more just by listening than most villagers do by talking.

Grandfather Clarence Jones: Practical, with an encyclopaedic knowledge of who to call for any job. As a result, very rarely needs to do anything himself.
